If you are a fellow crafter I’m sure you can relate to the fact that not every if any project goes exactly perfectly. The custom couples shirt project as I mentioned last week was far from an exception which is why I decided it would be good to share with you my top tips for Cricut iron on projects. A fundamental part of shirt project is using the correct materials. Apparel items with cute designs are only a fraction of why they are purchased by consumers the other two parts are fit and most importantly the feel. No one is happy to put on a shirt that is scratchy or insanely think during the summer. Make sure to factor in the use of the item before choose your materials. Recently, I switched from using Cricut vinyl to other brands my favorite is Siser because it is cheaper, it weeds better and it feels like quality too.

Happy holidays everyone! Does anyone else hear Jack Skeleton’s voice (from the ride) when anyone says this? Wanted to create a short post on my favorite cyber deals this year. These are strictly the deals that I used on purchases for myself so that I could test them out. First was on a random Target trip when I spotted the Thomas Kinkaide puzzles, instantly I assumed they would be $25-30+ as they were Disney. There were no price tags for them so I simply passed by them the first time I saw them. The next trip I decided to pick one up and see how much they were with the self scanner. Once it rang up for $4.99 I was shocked and skipped my way back to the Disney section to get more. Altogether it was $15 for twelve 500 piece puzzles which is crazy even if they weren’t Disney. I believe it started a new holiday tradition as well, to spend time putting together puzzles whether it be on a Saturday or even 15 minutes after work.

For this tutorial I did not practice or do a prior attempt, this is in fact footage of my first time trying to create an appliqué. The hardest part of creating an appliqué in my opinion is finding a file with the correct format. In order to create a “proper” appliqué the file needs to have three layers.

This tutorial was requested awhile ago however I have been procrastinating making it. In the tutorial you will see the raw footage of me winding my first bobbin on the PE550d. While I had created bobbins on my sewing machine I never really thought of it being any different, but it is a little. What I mean by that is there is a vital part that differentiates the average embroidery machine from a sewing machine, the foot pedal.  That being said it is relatively easy to do as the machine prompts you through the entire process, so do not let it intimidate you.

When I was little during pool parties the other kids were always amazed that my foot prints were almost a perfect foot. They thought it was cool but I knew even then that it wasn’t something to be proud of but rather it meant issues to come. Fast forward to high school where I got knocked down by a swinging door in high heels which lead to my first foot surgery. Currently, I still have issues with my feet so one night I started doing research because to be honest, yes there are shoes out there to help your feet but the majority are hideous. As a young adult I feel that is a major problem with the footwear market since if they do not look cute they will not be worn until years down the line when severe damage is already done.

No, I am not hoping for overnight success but the ultimate goal is earning enough to support myself and my family one day. I like the freedom creating gives me and to be honest I’ve always fancied what goes on the item rather than making the actual item from 100% scratch. Throughout my embroidery journey there has been many struggles, some I have shared others I have not, simply due to if I have found a solution or not. No, this is not a post ranting about the machine however, I must state that the customer service for Brother has not made a good impression thus far. When I first started having issues with my bobbin thread showing up on the top side I read the manual for quick fixes and then reached out to their service department with a photo and description of the issue. All I was given was links to their FAQ section. After three attempts to get a real solution I was then directed to find a service department to take the machine in to be properly looked at. FRUSTRATING.

All I kept reading is that it was a learning curve which is why I have been and will continue to update you all as I learn more about the machine embroidery world.
