Onto the working world, where your attire sets the first impression. Dress code varies between formal and casual. If you do not know the dress code prior to an interview, try out a semi professional look from below or something similar. Shoes can vary between Converse to a formal high heel depending on your ability. Do not wear shoes you know you cannot walk in as it appears as if you are not confident. All of these outfits I have worn with both types of shoes. Either way, remember people do look at your shoes, make sure they are clean so they leave a good impression too. Dress up your look by adding jewelry, keep it simple.
Consider Modesty
— Strapless Gi Dress: Abercrombie & Fitch —-Lace Cardigan: Abercrombie & Fitch — [ With strapless clothing there is a modesty issue for many places of employment, which is why I choose this dress. Rules to consider… make sure the dress shows no cleavage and wear a shawl to cover the shoulders while remaining stylish. ]
Simplicity
— Preppy Crop top: Brandy Melville — Hunter Green Skirt: Express — [ Keep your style in mind in a toned down manner. My personal style is a bit preppy as you can tell here with the simple stripes on the shirt to give an effortless classy look. Yes, this is a cropped top, however, it does not show any midriff when worn with this high waist shirt. ]
Length
— Striped Shirt Dress- Abercrombie & Fitch — [ This dress is classy, modest and seemingly perfect for a day at work. When standing this dress appears work appropriate, yet when sitting it becomes a bit too short. To wear or not to wear is the question. Yes, I have worn this dress just keep in mind where you work, are you sitting or walking most of the day? Bring a sweater that complements the dress or another clothing item to cover your lap if you choose to wear what I call a standing dress. ]
Going Braless
— White intricate crop top: Express — Black & White Floral Wrap Skirt: Abercrombie & Fitch —[ Alright so you pick out this pretty back and do not want to ruin it with ugly bra straps. Often people will go braless but I urge you not to. I am all for nipple equality, but there is a time and a place and work is definitely not that place. Either a sticker bra or nipple covers will do the trick. Be wary of nipple covers as they can still be detected through certain fabrics and colors. ]
