Update | How to- Backpack Repair

Over the past couple of weeks a few people have asked for an update on my backpack repair solutions video/post. While I still believe the methods used are good options they only solved about 75% of its issues for me. In other words, depending on the bags, materials, and placement of the hole or fray, they may not be completely effective. For instance, the Tender Touch has started lifting in some areas and since the bag is mostly plastic, that is flaking apart. Also, the part of the bag that still possesses a hole is mainly due to the fact that it was a tricky area to adhere to at the start of the repair.

This time around I’ve added two more options to help prolong the life of your favorite bag. First, to address the hole near the main zipper I took out my sewing machine and stitched the Tender Touch to the lip of the bag on the inside. While this will only work for this specific area it is a tricky one that has been very successful to overcome. Next is the frayed area which is not attached to the bottom layer of the bag thus causing it to pull, making a larger hole. I went with the standard approach and grabbed some Krazy glue to tack all the pieces down. Be careful whenever using a strong adhesive because it is extremely irritating to get on your skin yet it seems to be unavoidable.

As previously stated these are different ways to increase the longevity of a bag without compromising the authentic look of it. A patch may better suit your needs if this is not something you particularly care about. Watch the video below to see if these tips worked on my bag this time around.  Let me know if you have any questions and if you try out these tips.
