Catalog your Home/ School Library for Free – No App Required

One of the things I despise is how every single thing from appliances to businesses require an app. Whenever I find a work around app to download, I am all in. While helping my sister organize her books into storage bins, I stumbled upon a real gem. The last thing I wanted to do was write a list of every single book placed into each storage bin, so, instead I found a site that allows you to do everything digitally. Yes, they have an app, but it is not required in order to use the service. Even if you are simply looking to keep track of a growing classroom or personal library to prevent purchasing duplicates libib.com is perfect. Not a reader? Well, the site also allows the ability to catalog video games, music, board games and movies too. Most companies require a subscription for this type of service and yes this site has one too, but the free version should suffice for any personal user.

The free version of libib.com maxes out at 5,000 items, for the average person that should be more than enough. However, the main benefit of the monthly subscription is being able to search through all of your collections at once. A way around this would be to create one collection of books, one for video games, etc. If you are organizing storage bins of novels it will require you to search each collection/bin when looking for a specific book. I recommend organizing your stored novels by either theme or author to cut down the search time. Another way around the subscription would be to add books twice in two collections, one for the storage bin it is placed inside and one for your entire library.

Add tags, ratings, and even the status on if the book is TBR or read. Mark down if you have the luxe edition, soft or hard cover. Can’t find your book because it is a limited print, create your own manually. This cloud catalog system is easy to use: simply search the novel by typing in a title or use my hack shown in the video below by using your phone camera to automatically add the exact title and edition type. What are your favorite types of novels?
