What I Made This Month | Amigurumi Crochet Haul

Anyone else feel anxious if they don’t have a project to work on? Lately, I’ve been making a lot of new amigurumis. I enjoy trying new patterns but there is also comfort in creating repeat projects knowing that they will actually turn out properly. There have been numerous patterns I’ve made and then said “never, ever again!”.

Instead of just following patterns I’ve been winging it on some of these beasties (creations). I use a base pattern and then experiment with additional touches. For example, the duck pattern is the base and the “accessories” are add ons I improvised on. While it can be frustrating at times it’s pretty fun creating mini patterns. Variations for the classic rubber duck pattern have included a ballerina duck, a fancy pants Bridgerton inspired duck, a graduation duck and of course my favorite, a cowboy duck.

Eventually, I want to publish my own amigurumi patterns but for now I’m just noting what I like and dislike about the patterns I’ve purchased/read. One of my biggest pet peeves is adding various elements on one page in a Powerpoint slide format. Perhaps it’s just my personal opinion but it is overwhelming and hard to keep track of where you are if you stop and then pick up the project later.

The other constant issue I have off and on is trying to figure out if the pattern creator is indicating American Crochet or English Crochet. This can cause your project to turn out really wonky. An American or US single crochet is referred to as a double crochet for English or UK patterns. While I try to check if the pattern is English or American first I often forget and only investigate when things start looking really off. With all that said, watch the video below to see everything I made this month as well as if I would add them to my library or discontinue them.

What are you currently working on?

XOXO Faith
