After a little over a year of using this guy I am sharing with you all my thoughts on the Judy sewing cabinet by Arrow Sewing Company. This has been used in a lot of my embroidery tutorials but is it worth it? First, I want to say that this guy is not cheap, material wise or price. The model that I have retails for $799.99 on the brands website but on Amazon it is $385. Mine was from Amazon as it was purchased from my wedding registry by a dear friend of ours.
Judy comes in two colors to discreetly store all your sewing supplies in plain sight. While it is marketed towards holding a sewing machine, I house my embroidery machine along with all of its supplies in it. The main reason for this is because I needed a place to put my embroidery machine. My sewing machine already has a storage bag but it is too small to fit an embroidery machine. Brother’s PE550d machine is a perfect fit for the Judy sewing cabinet but if you have a larger machine this may not be the best option for you. There is a measurement guide shown online so prior to purchase be sure to select the best one for you. I do switch out machines depending on what craft I am doing. Ideally, I would like to purchase a second cabinet once we move to a larger place.
The hydraulic lift is the focal point and extends the sewing field, creating a level area to work with. I love so many things about this little cabinet but one of my favorites is the table fold out, perfect for ironing, holding the bulk of a blanket and more. Although the cubby on mine is obviously well used (very messy) it is a great addition to keep all your go to tools close by. The wheels are the MVP to help move around effortlessly; mine is even stored on carpet and the wheels still glide along very well.
One stand out additional accessory that came with the cabinet was a pen with the cabinet’s paint. This may seem a little weird but things happen. A screw could scratch the paint while building and scuffs can happen from normal wear so it is amazing to have. There are so many whites so you’d be better off repainting the whole item or throwing a sticker in the affected area if something was to happen. I have yet to use the pen but it brings me peace of mind knowing that it is available. Watch the video below to see the cabinet in action.
