Holiday season is finally upon us! Who else is already watching Christmas movies, making holiday crafts and baking? The weather is finally corresponding to the time of year as well which is a relief. It’s the best time for trying new things and that is why I want to talk about this little guy, or should I say this Chonky boy. Hehe For my first every crochet project where I followed a pattern I learned a lot about not only crochet but also about myself. I am one of those people who feels as if they’ve failed if I do not achieve perfection even if it is the first time I am trying something. This project taught me how to keep going even when things do not look bright. Here is a look into my first attempt at Chonky… yeah he looks more like a fruit basket that sits on the table at Thanksgiving. Before you make assumptions this was not supposed to be his tail… it was for his head/body.

Let’s just say it was a learning curve with all the stitches and somehow this happened. After a lot of laughing, a smidge of anger, I took a deep breath and came to terms with the fact that yes I would rip out the project almost to the beginning but I would not give up until he was finished. I did not care if he looked perfect,. My main goal was to complete the patten with the expectation that he would resemble somewhat of a dinosaur. Did I make mistakes? Heck yeah. When trying something new enlist some help whether that be from a Youtube video, a book, or even a friend to help you navigate through it. Crochet is literally like another language with all the abbreviations it’s a bit overwhelming. I hope this made you laugh and encourages you to try something new this holiday season.
